During our service event, Phace Value,The Beautiful Beta Phi Chapter and the Theta Xi Chapter did a tutorial on how to make face masks. All participants made face masks to make a COVID basket. 
The Beautiful Beta Phi Chapter decided to do our in person, "Jump Back into Campus" as a service event. Our chapter donated over 50 school and art supplies to East Washington Elementary School of Muncie IN.

Second Harvest Food Bank Tailgate: August 20th, 2020

The Beautiful Beta Phi Chapter had a wonderful start to the semester as we volunteered with Second Harvest Food Bank and the National Guard for their first Tailgate event. We helped Second Harvest and National Guard distribute over 1,000 boxes of food to families in need.

PictureProgram Initiative: #AKAImpactDay | Activity Description: Beta Phi helped to restore a baseball park by repainting its fence to give it a shinny new coat. Sorors also picked up the trash and liter in the area to make the park clean.



PictureProgram Initiative: Environmental Ownership | Activity Description: Sorors paired with the Theta Xi Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. to teach the Boy scouts how to be environmentally friendly. While at the local Unity Center we used cardboard boxes. The cardboard boxes were used to make recycled fuzz ball tables, masks, and robots.

PictureActivity Description: Sorors raised a total of over $2,000.00 to go to the Riley Foundation prior to the Dance Marathon event. At the event Beta Phi partnered with Chi Omega from the PanHellenic Council and with Delta Tau Delta from the Interfraternity Council. We danced for 13.1 hours , while also making our Riley kid Ayler have a great night.

PictureProgram Initiative: Environmental Ownership | Activity Description: Sorors went to the local Unity Center and helped youth learn how to be environmentally friendly with things that are viewed as trash. We collected empty water bottles to recycle them into crafts such as zipper cases, fishes, animals. Card board boxes were also collected to make recycled masks.

  

Picture Activity Description: Beta Phi spread the love on Valentines Day at Bethel Pointe by helping residents prepare for their annual dance. We assisted by providing the residents with makeovers, decorations, and other big preparations to make their event successful.

We cleaned and helped organize storage areas. The women who stay here are in need of a fresh start and positive surroundings, we were honored we could help give them on their journey.

Program Initiative: #AKAImpactDay | Activity Description: Beta Phi traveled to Indianapolis, IN to assist and facilitate MLK Day Programs with our graduate chapter, Alpha Mu Omega. The programs were hosted at 3 different schools in the area. The purpose of the events were to feed and inspire. After the programs sorors dropped off the remaining sack lunches to shelters and food pantries.

There were many activities and games to participate in to help stimulate the mind. Sorors also helped sort food out that would be sent to the needy.

There was free food, games, and prizes. We received many generous donations. All proceeds went to local charities and school children.

PictureProgram Initiative: Educational Enrichment | Activity Description: On January 18th, 2016, Sorors spent the day with the children from Boys & Girls Club. There was a discussion about Martin Luther King Jr. , and an arts and crafts activity in which pictures of Martin Luther King Jr. were drawn.

Program Initiative: Global Impact | Activity Description: On November 5, Beta Phi Sorors took kids from the Boys and Girls Club to The Amazing Taste Cultural Festival. The festival hosted by the Rinker Centre for International Programs brought the global culture to the Muncie community. Each Soror paired up with a child and took them round the many stations, to give them a greater understanding of our world.

Program Initiative: Educational Enrichment | Activity Description: On September 24th, Beta Phi partnered with Phi Kappa Psi once more for the first annual Back To School Bash. We had inflatable obstacle course/games, henna artist, free food and drinks as well as free gifts from Chik Fil A. We raised over a $100 and over 100 school items for the local Boys & Girls Club. Through this event, we were able to contribute to the national #onemillionbackpacks initiative.
PictureProgram Initiative:  Campus Wide | Activity Description: During welcome week members of Beta Phi helped new students move into their residence halls. Sorors spent several hours meeting freshmen in Woodworth hall and helping out in whatever way they were needed.

1st Inaugural Spring Cleaning Sale, April 14-15, 2015

PictureProgram Initiative: Global Impact | Activity Description:On Arbor Day, members of Beta Phi divided into two groups of volunteers while partnering with the city of Muncie to plant trees at McCulloch Park. Each group participated in planting trees, painting bird houses, cleaning up the park, and serving food at the event. The city of Muncie was very appreciative of our Arbor Day help and we gained more experience in our Global Impact initiative.
 

PictureProgram Initiative: Global Impact | Activity Description: Sorors from Beta Phi volunteered on April 14th from 11am-2pm everyday on the lawn of the Student Center to collect money during our 1st ever Annual Spring Cleaning Sale. We sold items for $1 apiece or less and the proceeds went to Ball State's newest organization, Cardinal Kitchen, a student-run food drive for students on and off-campus. Any excess clothing were donated to YWCA Muncie, a women's center. The event was a huge success and we were able to raise close to $300 in sales towards Cardinal Kitchen and donated over 75 pieces of clothing to the YWCA!

PictureProgram Initiative: Family Strengthening | Activity Description: On the morning of April 11th, members of Beta Phi helped at Muncie's local women's crisis center, First Choice. Sorors reorganized their winter-to-spring baby/young children's clothes as well as maternal clothing and also helped in cleaning up around the center. Once again, First Choice was grateful for our company and welcomes us anytime!

PictureProgram Initiative: Family Strengthening | Activity Description: On the morning of March 21st, members of Beta Phi and other NPHC organizations helped at Muncie's local ballet center, Muncie Ballet. Sorors reorganized their costumes, props and ballet apparel as well as help with their promotional event and also helped in cleaning up around the center. Muncie Ballet was grateful for our help and participation and welcomed us to come again!

Pink Goes Red For A Week, February 5-6th, 2015

Seasonal Wraps, January 26th, 2015

PictureProgram Target: Health Promotion | Activity Description: The Sorors of the Beta Phi Chapter joined with the American Heart Association in holding their 4th Annual "Pink Goes Red" event. During the times of 11am-3pm, students, faculty, and visitors were able to watch the Beta Phi Challenge at Ball State's scramble light and see Sorors Jump For Their Heart against challengers. The challengers won and Beta Phi donated $100 to the American Heart Association. Overall, it was great turnout for our chapter's first event of the 2015 year!

PictureProgram Target: Global Impact | Activity Description: During the week of January 26-30th from 11am-2pm everyday in the Atrium, Beta Phi conducted the "Seasonal Wraps" winter apparel drive. BSU students were able to come to our table and donate any winter apparel items they had from hats and gloves to scarves and layering clothing and monetary donations for the YWCA, a women's center.

PictureProgram Target: Global Impact | Activity Description: Beta Phi Chapter members, new and seasoned, helped Muncie's local food bank, Second Harvest Food Bank, in boxing groceries. The ladies helped pack away groceries for local and nationwide starving people. It was a great opportunity to help out a non-profit organization that focuses on global change for the better!

Program Target: Educational Enrichment | Activity Description: As apart of the Mu Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho's Week of Events, Sorors Brandi and Rae did some community service as apart of their national program, Operation Big BookBag. They helped bag backpacks, organize them, and put them in the car to be sent off to children of the Muncie community schools. This also benefitted one of Alpha Kappa Alpha's targets, Educational Enrichment.

Program Target: Global Impact | Activity Description: During the week of November 3rd-7th from 11am-2pm everyday in the Atrium, Beta Phi started our first ever "Soulful Kollections" shoe drive. BSU students were able to come to our table and donate any pair of shoes (with the exception of Ski boots and roller blades) and monetary donations for the Walkable Collections shoe recycling company. The Walkable Collections company takes worn down/used shoes and recycles them so they do not sit in landfills.

Program Target: Family Strengthening | Activity Description: On Thursday, October 16th, Beta Phi collected money and food donations at Ball State University's Scramble Light and Atrium for the No Kid Hungry Campaign. We made $100 overall and raised a ton of food to give to our local Second Harvest Food Bank!

Program Target: Family Strengthening Activity Description: On Sept. 20th, Sorors returned to First Choice to help them with their semiannual seasonal turn-over; meaning moving the summer baby clothes to their attic and their winter baby clothes for sale towards the front of the store. As always, we had a blast helping the ladies and they appreciated our help as well.

Program Target: Educational Enrichment Activity Description: On August 28th, 2014 from 6-8:30pm, Beta Phi partnered with Phi Kappa Psi, an IFC Fraternity, to throw our first ever Back to School Bash. There were: inflatable obstacle courses/games, pie a "K", an egg toss, tug-a-war, bean bag toss, volleyball, free food, drinks, and more! Overall, together we raised nearly $200, 40 backpacks, and 300 school supplies items to donate to the Muncie Boys & Girls Club! We were thankful we were able to help one of our programs, One Million Backpacks, that day.

PictureProgram Target: Environmental Ownership | Activity Description: As a way to end off the summer, Beta Phi Sorors went to Kidz Korner, our local daycare, to do community service. There, we helped pick weeds and re-mulch the kid's playground. As a part AKA 1908 Playground Project, we were able to help clean up a playground in our community.

Program Target: Family Strengthening | Activity Description: As a way to use some time before our actual school year started, First Choice Women's Crisis Center asked Beta Phi if we'd be willing to help them get their mailing together for help offerings. There, we sealed letters, stamped, organized, and counted their letters they needed to send out.

First Choice Community Service, April 19, 2014

PictureProgram Initiative: Environmental Stewardship and Sustainability | Activity Description:On Arbor Day, members of Beta Phi, the Theta Xi chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha, and the Delta Iota Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi divided into two groups of volunteers that went to Motivate Our Minds (MOMs) and the Buley Center. At both places, each group participated in planting flowers, moving cement blocks, digging up diseased trees, cleaning up their garden, and cooking for their events later on that day. Each center was very appreciative of our Arbor Day help and we gained more experience in our Environmental Stewardship and Sustainability initiative.


PictureProgram Initiative: Economic Security | Activity Description: On the morning of April 19th, members of Beta Phi helped at Muncie's local women's crisis center, First Choice, in reorganizing their winter-to-spring baby/ young children's clothes and cleaning up around the center. Once again, First Choice was grateful for our company and welcomes us anytime we come!

PictureProgram Initiative: Global Poverty | Activity Description: As a part of the Black Student Association's Week of Events, a few of Beta Phi Sorors and Alpha Phi Alpha member Khelan Todd did community service with them in helping out with the Boys & Girls Club's Easter Egg Hunt. We also helped with their arts and crafts area, their movie area, and other outdoor activities that the children could get involved in. Overall, the children had a great time and the volunteers loved how enthused we were to help the children have something other to do after school than run around on the streets.
 

PictureProgram Initiative: Health | Activity Description: On the Sunday morning of April 10th, members of S.1.9.I.F.I.C.A.N.T. engaged in community service at the YMCA by helping sweep, mop, pick up trash, clean windows, and wipe down their work out equipment.

NPHC & PHC Diaper Drive, April 1, 2014

PictureProgram Initiative: Health | Activity Description: From 1pm-5pm in the Student Center Multipurpose Room, BSU Students took 5-10 minutes of their day to have their cheek swabbed and become entered into the bone marrow database. If students were a match with someone in need of bone marrow, they were called back to see if they would like to donate their bone marrow. The drive was dedicated to one of Beta Phi's past Sorors, Melanie Scott, who was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) on January 10, 2013 and eventually beat her cancer because of a bone marrow donor. It was Beta Phi's first time ever trying something like this, which we had a great turn out and an even better response to what we were doing overall.


PictureProgram Initiative: Global Poverty | Activity Description: Sorors from Beta Phi and other members from NPHC and PHC volunteered on April 1st to collect baby diapers and wipes for Muncie's local women's crisis center, First Choice. Soror Raquel Myers, a member of BSU's Greek Council, lead the event with different and activities that revolved around babies. The event was a huge success and we were able to raise several packages of baby diapers and wipes with the rest of NPHC and PHC.


The Hunger Race, February 24-27, 2014

Ready, Set, Career!, February 26, 2014

PictureProgram Initiative: Global Poverty | Activity Description: From the days of Monday- Thursday, 12- 5pm, Beta Phi collected cans and non perishable items at Ball State University's Multicultural Center. Organizations and individuals brought in hundreds of items everyday in order to help beat world hunger and to possibly win the first place prize: an iPad. In total, BSU students helped us collect over 1,300 items with our first prize winner bringing in over 400 items. Overall, this year's Hunger Race canned food/non perishable items drive was a massive success with Beta Phi collecting over twice as many items as they did the previous year.

PictureProgram Initiative: Economic Security | Activity Description: Along with the help of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc., the Sorors of Beta Phi partnered with the Black Student Association for one of their Black History Month events, entitled "Ready, Set, Career!” There, students of minority were taught how to act during a job interview, “what and what-not” to put on your resume, and how to dress during an interview. Beta Phi specifically ran the portion of the seminar where we modeled clothing that the audience had to guess was either business casual, business professional, campus casual, or inappropriate. Our chapter helped achieve the Economic Security initiative by teaching Ball State University students how to keep a stable job. We also helped the Career Center reach a new record for the most attendance during a seminar in the past three years.

PictureProgram Initiative: Global Poverty | Activity Description: Members of Beta Phi help and do community service for Ball State's Delta Phi chapter of Delta Sigma Theta week of events. There, their group of volunteers helped pack and repack boxes of free lotion, hair conditioner, shampoo, and nail polish for citizens around Muncie who are in need of extra supplies.


PictureProgram Initiative: Health | Activity Description: The Sorors of the Beta Phi Chapter joined with the American Heart Association in holding their 3rd Annual "Pink Goes Red" event. During the times of 11am-3pm, students, faculty, and visitors were able to casually take five minutes out of their day to stop by and learn about heart health at our table.The table included such activities as: an BMI (Body Mass Index) calculator, pamphlets about healthier food choices on campus, trivia to win a healthy treat, and a drawing to win a Subway gift card. Overall, it was great turnout for our chapter's first event of the 2014 year!

PictureProgram Initiative: Global Poverty | Activity Description: Members of Beta Phi helped out and did community service with Ball State's Lambda Beta chapter of Phi Beta Sigma for their week of events. There, everyone helped fill boxes full of canned goods and eggs for citizens around Muncie dealing with poverty and in need of more food.


PictureProgram Initiative: Economic Security | Activity Description: Beta Phi Chapter members, new and graduated, helped Muncie's local women's clinic, First Choice, in cleaning up around the place. The ladies helped cleaned toys, bathrooms, and washed clothes to give away to new and expecting mothers. It was a great opportunity to help out a non-profit organization that lives out the true meaning of "giving" instead of "getting"!

Program Initiatives: Health | Activity Description: In honor of Arbor/Earth Day, Beta Phi participated in spring planting. Beta Phi, along with the children of The Muncie Boys & Girls Club and other students from Ball State, planted flowers. It was a great time, and a great opportunity to soak up the nice weather!


K's For Cans, February 25-28 2013

Program Initiatives: Global Poverty | Activity Description: Beta Phi raised awareness in global poverty by hosting a canned food drive contest, "K's For Cans". For three days, organizations on campus could donate amounts of canned goods to our table in The Multicultural Center. The winning organization with the most cans turned in at the end of the contest received a pizza party with our chapter. A successful turnout, the total amount of cans weighed out to be 373 lbs. All proceeds were given to Second Harvest Food Bank in Muncie, IN. The winner of this year's competition was Alpha Phi Omega. 



"Taste Test for the Heart": Pink Goes Red, February 5, 2013

Program Initiatives: Health | Activity Description: The Beta Phi Chapter, in partner with the American Heart Association, raised awareness for heart disease. Beta Phi set up a taste test station for students. With a handful of selections, students were asked to taste the difference between snacks that were and were not healthy for the heart. Along with the taste test, students could pick up a pamphlet, made by Ball State Dining Services, to read/learn more information on heart disease and how to keep their heart healthy.

Program Initiative: Health | Activity Description: More than 2,500 Americans die a day equaling a death every 34 seconds. Heart disease is the number one cause of death in men and women in the United States. The Beta Phi Chapter, saw a need to help and did just that. We held a bake sale in the Letterman Building Lobby on Valentine's Day where the proceeds were donated to the American Heart Association. We sold baked goods and gave out kisses, Hershey Chocolate Kisses, that is.

Program Initiatives: Health | Activity Description: The Beta Phi Chapter held a four hour bake sale on the campus of Ball State University to raise money for the American Heart Association. Over $100 was raised and donated to the American Heart Association.

Program Initiatives: Global Poverty | Activity Description: Beta Phi invited Ball State Students and the Delta Zeta Sorority of the PanHellenic Council to serve in memory of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Volunteers packed over 1,000 bags of food provided to children that do not have food when they go home after school.
